US size 10 in EU

US 10 is European size 42, UK 14 and XL in letter sizes. The rule of thumb for women's clothing is EU equals US plus 32. US 10 plus 32 gives EU 42.

Why the US number is so much smaller
The US scale starts at 0 and counts up in steps of two. The European scale starts at 32. The gap stays at 32 numbers, which is why US 10 is EU 42.

How to measure yourself
Measure in your underwear with a soft tape. Three measurements are enough:
- Bust: around the fullest part, with the tape level across your back.
- Waist: around the narrowest part, usually a hand width above your navel.
- Hips: around the fullest part of your seat.
Keep the tape snug but not tight. The values in the chart are guide values, not a promise. If you fall between two sizes, go by your bust for tops and by your hips for trousers and skirts.
