US 6 is European size 38, UK 10 and M in letter sizes. The rule of thumb for women's clothing is EU equals US plus 32. US 6 plus 32 gives EU 38.

Why the US number is so much smaller
The US scale starts at 0 and counts up in steps of two. The European scale starts at 32. The gap stays at 32 numbers, which is why US 6 is EU 38.

How to measure yourself
Measure in your underwear with a soft tape. Three measurements are enough:
- Bust: around the fullest part, with the tape level across your back.
- Waist: around the narrowest part, usually a hand width above your navel.
- Hips: around the fullest part of your seat.
Keep the tape snug but not tight. The values in the chart are guide values, not a promise. If you fall between two sizes, go by your bust for tops and by your hips for trousers and skirts.
