Your shoe size comes down to one value: the length of your foot in centimeters. EU 38 for women is 24.0 cm, EU 43 for men is 27.5 cm. Measure your foot, find your row, and you have your EU, UK and US size.
Measure your foot
How to measure your foot length properly:
- Stand barefoot on a sheet of paper and trace your foot with the pen held upright.
- Measure from the heel to the longest toe.
- Measure both feet and use the longer one.
Do not add anything to the measured length. The chart maps the foot length straight to a size. It only covers the lengths listed, and it says nothing about values in between.

EU, UK and US side by side
EU sizes count the last in Paris points, UK and US sizes count in inches and start from a different zero. That is why the numbers look so far apart while the shoe is the same length.
In the ISO assignment the US number is 2 above the UK number for women and 1 above for men. When in doubt, go by the foot length in cm, it is unambiguous.
Between two rows
The ISO chart only assigns sizes to the foot lengths it lists. If your measurement falls between two rows, there is no size in it for you.
Whether one particular shoe fits comes down to the size chart of the brand. Compare your measured foot length with that chart and try the shoes on.

Should I add a centimeter to my foot length?
No. Measure your foot and read the assigned size straight off the chart. Whether a particular model fits is a question for the size chart of the brand and for trying it on.
