UK 5.5 in women's sizes is EU 38 and 24.0 cm of foot length. British shoe sizes count in inches and start from a different zero than the EU scale. The UK number is the same for women and men, and only the US number differs.

Why there is no clean formula
The UK measures in inches from its own zero size, the EU scale counts in Paris points. The gap between two rows is sometimes 0.5 cm and sometimes 1.0 cm of foot length, so no fixed offset works across all sizes.
The reliable way is to measure your foot and use the cm column. It is the same in both charts.
How to measure your foot
How to measure your foot length properly:
- Stand barefoot on a sheet of paper and trace your foot with the pen held upright.
- Measure from the heel to the longest toe.
- Measure both feet and use the longer one.
Do not add anything to the measured length. The chart maps the foot length straight to a size. It only covers the lengths listed, and it says nothing about values in between.

UK 6 is EU 39 and 24.5 cm of foot length.
Is UK the same size for women and men?
In the ISO assignment yes: UK 7 is EU 40 and 25.5 cm of foot length for both. Only the US number differs, US 9 for women and US 8 for men.
Can I just add 33 to my UK size?
No. The gaps between sizes are not even. Use the chart, or go through the foot length in cm.
